PADeMIS´ primary deployment will be found in the treatment of disc herniations (Discus prolapse), stenosis treatment or surgical removal of tumors from the spinal canal in the lumbar region. The haptic array of the probe should describe tissue characteristics inside the spinal canal. PADeMIS is placing a hollow pipe to insert instruments and optics.
Minimally invasive spine surgery instruments are:
Minicurettes, disectome, dilator, cutter forceps, grasper forceps and endoscopes
In comparison with laminectomy the advantages of the minimal invasive procedure of PADeMIS are:
a small incision at the Hiatus sacralis at the Os sacrum
a limited muscle disruption and reduced blood loss
a minimal pain after operation
a shorter stay in hospital
a faster return to normal daily activities
Way of PADeMIS from the Hiatus sacralis to the disc herniation between L4 and L5
